First look at Daniel Radcliffe’s big transformation for new movie

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has been doing lots of different projects since the magical franchise wrapped up, some weird (to his own admission), some wonderful, but now he’s taking the weird aspect to the next level by playing none other than Weird Al Yankovic.

Funny or Die and Tango are creating a biopic on the parody legend for the Roku Channel, with Radcliffe in the lead as the ‘White and Nerdy’ and ‘Smells Like Nirvana’ hitmaker – and he’s transformed his look appropriately.

In this image from the set of the biopic, which we’re sure will be as brilliantly silly as Al’s best songs, Radcliffe dons a moustache and a wig with jet-black curly hair referencing his early look.

Al himself is serving as executive producer, and previously said in a statement: “When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

Whenever WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story comes out, it should be available for UK viewers to watch via Roku streaming players, Roku-powered TVs, and NOW and Sky Q devices.

Radcliffe himself has opened up about taking on more odd projects since leaving his role as the boy qizard behind, telling Empire last year: “I’ve actually found it’s an incredibly liberating thing, to do the biggest thing you’re ever gonna do really f**king early. The financial success thing, that’s done. So just do things that make you happy.”
